The EDA Atlanta FY 2016–FY 2019 Planning Program and Local Technical Assistance Program provides grant funding to support regional economic development efforts. Through its Planning Program, the initiative helps eligible recipients create and implement Comprehensive Economic Development Strategies (CEDS) to strengthen economic resilience and job creation, particularly in distressed areas. Partnerships are funded to assist designated Economic Development Districts and Indian Tribes in planning and executing economic growth strategies.

Additionally, the Local Technical Assistance Program aids state and local organizations, higher education institutions, and other eligible entities in conducting feasibility studies and impact analyses to improve economic development programs.
